Daily Planning with ADHD
Daily Planning: (I call it getting oriented on the time/space continuum)
A lot of people create their own informal methods to help them think about what they need to get done today and how they might do it. A visual map of the “what” and the “when” can help you feel prepared and get the important things done.
First to be clear, I’m not talking about creating a schedule for yourself.
I’m talking about the process of figuring out what today is about and how it will work.
Certain things will be fixed in time.
Others will be variable.
Start with the fixed items. Add in prep time and travel time. Maybe recuperation time.
Then think about what you can fit in around the fixed items. Reasonably. What makes sense, where and why?
What can wait till another day? What might you have to reschedule?
Try a simple format, sketched out on a notepad so you can create a new page each day.
See what works best for you, using categories that are meaningful to you.
It’s just to help you think, and see time.
